The county seat of Orange County, California, Santa Ana, is located in the Greater Los Angeles area on low-lying, level plains with little variation in land elevation. The "rain year" with the highest amount of precipitation, 34.34 inches, was from July 1940 to June 1941; the wettest "rain year" had just 2.73 inches, from July 2017 to June 2018. 13.99 inches of rain fell in February 1998, the wettest month ever, and 4.69 inches in February 16, 1927, the wettest 24-hour period.
