The East Bay contains the cities that are along the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay. This is considered one of the most populous areas in the Bay Area. The latest city here is Oakland. And along with having such a high population, it is also the major transportation hub in all of the West Coast area.
This is a highly urbanized area with many major cities located here including Bayview, El Cerrito, Hayward, Oakland, Pleasant Hill, Rodeo, Union City and many more. There are some areas of un-urbanized land, however, this is relatively small compared to the rest of the area.

When entering into the East Bay, you will notice that there are several higher education institutions that call this area home. For this reason, rental homes and apartments in the area are always in high demand. A few of the colleges and universities that call this area home include two-year community colleges like Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, and Merritt College. There is also the California State University, East Bay campus here along with the University of California, Berkeley. Private universities include John F. Kennedy University, Pattern University and several others. This is also the home of Telsa Motors, Clorox, Pixar and ANG Newspapers.
What to Do Here
There are tons of things to do in the East Bay area since it is such a high traffic area. Love to hike? Check out the Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley. For those who love space, there is the Chabot Space and Science Center. For foodies, there are tons of restaurants in the area that are up and coming, as well as those that are established and considered 4-star cuisine.
