In this article, we will share with you several tips to consider which will help you to find the right Ventura CA rental property.

Tip #1 – Determine How Much You Can Pay

The first step to finding the right rental property is to determine how much you can pay. Most people get trapped into overpaying for rentals on a monthly basis and it’s never a good idea to pay more than 30% of your monthly income to rent.

Tip #2 – Think About What You’re Looking for In A Rental

Once you know how much you can pay for a rental property the next step is to think about the specific features that you’re searching for.

  • Do you want to have a single-family home, condo, or townhome?
  • Is a front yard, backyard, porch, dedicated parking place, or fireplace important to you?
  • Are you interested in getting a rental that has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, or will a studio be the right fit for you?

Before starting your search it’s important to think about your criteria for the perfect rental property and write all of these things down since this will make your process of finding the right property so much easier.

Tip #3 – Investigate Rentals in the Area

After determining how much you can afford to pay, then writing down what you want in a rental property, the next step is to start searching for rental properties and map out the rentals that you want to review.

Once you’ve found at least five rental properties to review you should next spend the day investigating those rentals and the areas where they are located.

To do this we recommend using a tool like the MapQuest route planner so you can efficiently drive to each rental without getting lost or going out of your way.

Tip #4 – Decide on A Rental

Last of all, but most importantly, after doing the “legwork” to investigate and find the right rental property in Ventura you should next research that top three rentals that interest you and investigate those properties online

During your investigation, determine things like:

  • The crime rate for the area
  • Services that may be nearby
  • Proximity to your job, family, and shops or stores.

If you find one or more rentals that are ideal to you the next logical step is to contact the landlord or property manager for each rental property and schedule a day/time to tour each rental in person and fill out a rental application.
