The Union City BART station was transformed into the Union City Intermodal Transit Station in 2007 with plans for an entrance to connect with trains and the 11th Street side of the BART station in the future. In terms of road infrastructure, Union City benefits from a network of high-capacity streets four Interstate 880 (Nimitz Freeway). There are plans to open lanes on this freeway by 2020.
