Contra Costa County, California, United States is home to the city of Antioch, the third-largest city in the county. The community is situated along the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in the San Francisco Bay Area's East Bay area. At the western end of the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta, Antioch is situated alongside the San Joaquin River-Stockton Deepwater Shipping Channel.

Due to its semi-arid environment, Antioch often experiences hot, dry summers and milder, rainier winters. Here, summers include substantial temperature differences between day and night, and winters are generally mild. In comparison to the rest of the Bay Area, Antioch typically experiences milder winter evenings and hotter summer days due to its inland location. However, because of its proximity to the delta and reduced exposure to the ocean, it has slightly lower midday temperatures than communities in the neighboring valley.

With its 31 parks covering 310 acres, 600 acres of city-owned open space, and 11 miles of connected walking pathways, Antioch offers a variety of leisure possibilities. An impressive 6,493 acres, or 38% of the city's area, is taken up by renowned regional parks like Contra Loma Regional Park, Antioch/Oakley Regional Shoreline, and Black Diamond Mines Regional Park. Established in 1980, the Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge protects insects and plants that are in danger of extinction. Fishing may be enjoyed along the picturesque San Joaquin River, and there are marina activities available, including a municipal marina and public fishing pier. With habitat protection initiatives and the construction of artificial burrows, Antioch is also committed to protecting endangered burrowing owls.

The Antioch Unified School District, which is in charge of four middle schools, three high schools, including Antioch High School, Deer Valley High School, and Dozier-Libbey Medical High School, largely shapes the educational environment of Antioch. The area's private schools, which frequently have religious links, add to the diversity of the educational system. In addition to various elementary and middle schools including Holy Rosary Elementary School and Hilltop Christian School, these include Heritage Baptist Academy, Delta Christian High School, Promised Land Christian High School, and Heritage Baptist Academy. Alternative educational options are provided by charter schools like Antioch Charter Academy and Antioch Charter Academy II. Specialized education programs are also offered by Western Career College and Antioch's CPR and First Aid Training School. Public libraries, such as the Prewett Library and the Contra Costa County Library's Antioch branch, help to meet the community's educational needs.

State Route 4 serves as the cornerstone of Antioch's transportation choices, connecting it to Stockton and the Bay Area. Northbound State Route 160 connects to Sacramento via the Antioch Bridge. Both the Antioch eBART Station and the Antioch-Pittsburg Amtrak Station are accessible through public transportation, offering connections to BART and nearby locations. With a senior shuttle program available, Tri-Delta Transit and County Connection bus #93X provide service to the city. While BART connects Antioch to San Francisco International Airport, Oakland Airport, and, via VTA, San Jose Airport, Buchanan Field Airport is the closest commercial airport, serving JSX flights to Burbank and Orange County. In 2021, Antioch Airport stopped operating.
