Gresham, OR is considered a suburb of Portland, though it was officially incorporated in 1905. It’s in Multnomah County, just 12 miles east of Portland proper and about 70 miles from the Oregon Coast. With a large inventory of rental property, about 50% of properties rented, Gresham is a great place to find an apartment or home to rent.
It’s a relatively flat area geographically. Johnson Creek runs through Gresham, and only the eastern portion is somewhat hilly. Residents experience typical Pacific Northwest climate, with a short sunny summer and frequent rain and clouds the rest of the year.
A growing city with a population of 105,594, it is Oregon’s 4th largest city. Population here is growing fast, skyrocketing in the 90s. Its city limits include just 23 square miles. The only large employer in city limits is the Adventist Medical Center; other than that, employment is found locally mainly at shops and restaurants.

Main City Park, which also has a skatepark, playgrounds, youth recreation, picnicking, a creek, and baseball diamonds, is the most popular park with loads of activities. Hogan Butte Nature Park offers mountain views, trails, and 46 acres of nature. One of the most coveted points of pride parkwise though is the beautiful Gresham Japanese Garden, which is sometimes referred to as Tsuru Island.Â
