Los Angeles, California's San Fernando Valley is home to the neighborhood known as Encino, which translates to "oak" in Spanish. Sitting on the northern flank of the Santa Monica Mountains, Encino is located in the middle of the southern San Fernando Valley. Its borders are as follows: Sherman Oaks to the east, Brentwood to the south, Tarzana to the west, and Reseda, Lake Balboa, and the Sepulveda Basin to the north.

Summers are hot and dry and winters are moderate and wet in Encino, Los Angeles, which has a Mediterranean climate. January to August sees the highest average high temperature of 67°F (19°C), while January to September sees the lowest average temperature of 43°F (6°C). January, February, and March are the wettest months, with an annual precipitation total of 17.24 inches (438.75 mm) in the area. All things considered, Encino experiences a mild climate all year long.

The five-acre Los Encinos State ancient Park, which houses the ancient nine-room de la Ossa Adobe, the Garnier Building, a blacksmith shop, a pond, and a natural spring, is just one of the many recreational options available in Encino. Located in Encino, the Woodley Worel/Magnus Cricket Complex, Encino Golf Course, and Balboa Golf Course are all included in the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area. A baseball diamond, basketball courts, a kids' play area, a football field, tennis courts, and volleyball courts are among the amenities available at the Balboa Sports Complex. Encino is also home to the 6.5-acre Sepulveda Basin Off-leash Dog Park, which offers plenty of parking, a separate area for little dogs, and other leash-free activities. The expansive 16-acre Sepulveda Garden Center, which offers 420 garden plots for those who love gardening, is another asset that the neighborhood loves.

Encino is a highly educated town; by 2000, 46% of those 25 years of age and older had earned a four-year degree. Notably high is the percentage of people with a master's degree or above. Public schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) include Fred E. Lull Special Education Center, Lanai Road Elementary School, Emelita Street Elementary School, Encino Charter Elementary School, and Hesby Oaks Leadership Charter School. Although Birmingham High School in Lake Balboa and Reseda High School in Reseda serve parts of Encino, the community does not have public high schools. The Holy Martyrs Armenian High School/Ferrahian, Crespi Carmelite High School, Sage Academy, Westmark School, Our Lady of Grace School, Los Encinos School, Saint Cyril of Jerusalem, Valley Beth Shalom Day School, and the International School of Los Angeles (Lycee International de Los Angeles) are among the private schools.
